I love the Upper West Side, but I never make it up there. I live downtown, and it seems like months can go by when I don't have a reason to go above 14th Street. So once I'm up there, it always feels like I'm in another city, a different version of New York. In reality though, it's much closer to what New York is all about.
The Taste of The Upper West Side drew a huge crowd. People dressed up a bit, the line went around the block, it was a beautiful night. Again I looked for the details that would distinguish this line/crowd from others, and the little material things that offer clues about people.
I think it's really interesting when you look at the majority of the people we shot and see that it forms a demographic of sorts. The only anomalies are the kids in tee shirts that were hanging out nearby.
